Can somebody get me a list of what it is I'll need to get Vista. How I do it, and a quick walkthrough.
I bought my Acer laptop, it came with the free Vista upgrade, and I'd like to get it so I can have it for down the road!
    Thanks. :)

it is not a good idea to upgrade your computer. it is a good idea to clean install it. but i don't think you can do that (legally) with the upgrade version.
unless you can 'clean install' your system with windows vista, i wouldn't bother upgrading.

upgrade install tend to be troublesome, in a lot of areas.

So getting Vista through the free coupon offer isn't getting a CD that I can use my OEM and install it clean?

no, i think you'll get an upgrade cd that will allow you to upgrade your xp to vista. not reformat it, and do a clean install, in other word you will not get the full OEM, or the full retail version.

not sure what you mean... but, if you do only get the upgrade cd, then i wouldn't bother upgrading it. if you want vista in your current notebook; i would suggest, getting either OEM or Retail version, and getting an extra RAM!! vista would be frustatingly slow on 512MB ram. the minimum nowdays is 1GB, MAC or PC, and 2GB for mainstream pc. that ATI radoeon express 1100 may not be sufficient for the "full" aero experience.

so all in all, i think you're stuck with windows XP MCE. perhaps getting windows vista when you buy your next computer would be the best option right now.

    well thats only my opinion...

speaking of which... that's funny... where are the other forum members...?

Yea, I'd for sure be putting a extra 512MB in it, but I think I will be doing so, and leaving Vista outta the question. Still might buy it if it goes on sale or something, and just keep it for another time.

well great! IMHO, the best way to get a new operating system is when it is pre-installed on the computer. oh! btw, that 1100 actually is enough to run aero, but it might drop frame rates when you play video.

    good luck with everything.
