I have a Acer Aspire 5110 and I haven't had any problems with my touchpad before but when i started my computer today it just didn't work. I thought that it was a hardware problem at first and thought i would have to send back the laptop but after some investigation i realized that it had nothing to do with hardware. When i start windows the touchpad works before every all the autostart programs have started this is for a couple of seconds before it just stops responding. In the properties it says that there is nothing wrong with the device. It also works for a few seconds when i change setup for it or if i deactivate and then activate it.
So, my conclusion is that some program or some other driver disturbes the touchpad software.
My question is if someone else has had the same problem or might know which program/driver that messes up the touchpad?

you could have disabled it with your Fn key plus one on the F keys up top. Fn + F6 or so. Check your manual.

Thanks alot dude! -
Geez, I love these forums! With all the problems I have been needing to solve (heat, drivers, etc), you guys have been great!
And I had this same problem with the touchpad too. It turned out to be fn+F7 to re-activate the touchpad on my 5672.
I must have hit it by accident when I was switching between internal and external monitors the other day. I don't use the touchpad a lot (external keyboard and mouse most of the time) so I didn't put 2 and 2 together.
The thing that threw me is that I switched hard drives (I have a spare with just a pure Acer factory load) as a troubleshooting step to see if it was a software problem.
Changing the drive didn't solve the problem...
I never would have guessed that the config setting for this item would be stored in flash memory as opposed to on the hard drive.
Awesome! I was dreading having to send it in for this problem - now I don't have to.
