    i'm going to totally max out my laptop.

    But a few questions first.

    XP Pro 64 or Vista Home Basic 64? What's all of your inputs on this? after reading a bunch of a reviews and comparison threads, i'm sort of leaning towards Vista only because of long term/down the road reliability.

    Now, i need a 64bit os to successfully recognize all dc 4gb memory, cause i'm gonna get 2x2gb 667mhz.

    and for the hd, since i have the model which came with the slow azz 4200 pata hd, you can go from pata to sata right? does it matter? cause i'm gonna get a 7200-60gb but not sure if i should get pata or sata.

    other than that... This is going to be a fun $300 mod..

    vista home basic 64
    60gb 7200 hd

    pata and sata are not interchangeable just so you know two diffent interfaces

    you lapto post like take pata also stick vista xp pro 64 was.nt great

    hm... i think i'm just gonna get xp pro 64, not vista, my bro was telling me with vista, vista checks for pirated stuff? w/e hm..

    Xp 64 bit is utter crap. I'd take Vista over that anyday.

    I would either get Vista Ultimate and 4gbs of ram, or stick with 32bit xp pro and only 3gbs of ram.

    lot people say crapy about vista but it not like report cops it does,nt check for pirated software
