Hi - I'm new to this forum, and this is my first Acer laptop (I have owned Lenovos, Macs etc).

I have searched forums for this particular problem (touchpad lag) which seems to come up quite often, but can't find a solution for my model (Aspire 5741Z) - seemingly the other threads are for other touchpads with different control options (including things like palmcheck which I can't find).

Mine is a Synaptics touchpad V7.2

The lag is deeply irritating (over a second after typing) - any helpful tips, even solutions would be gratefully accepted. Thanks in advance

Sorry, but I'm fairly ignorant as far as this is concerned (on a scale of 1-10, I'm probably a level 1). Is this 'drivers' thing a solution, or is it something I should try that might work?

I wondered whether fiddling with some settings might provide a quicker fix for the touchpad lag?

Thanks again if you can help.

Go to control panel/mouse/synaptics/properties and lower the PalmCheck level (slider to the left)

ACE! It's sorted - I wasn't able to find PalmCheck originally (as suggested in numerous other threads), because it is squirreled away in sub menu after sub menu.

For anyone with the same machine who wants to know how I found it:

    Mouse / Device Settings / Settings / Pointing / Sensitivity / PalmCheck...!

Persistence has paid off! Problem solved.

Thanks for your help in this matter
