Just bought an Acer AO532h netbook earlier today and I'm happy with everything so far, except that the scroll bar on the right side of the touchpad doesn't seem to work no matter what I do.

Any reason why this doesn't work out of the box and any way to get it to work? I looked at downloading a general driver from Synaptics but it had a warning about losing functionality that I wasn't too pleased about...

They always warn about losing functionality, but I never experienced it. For scrolling, you'll have to install Synaptics drivers, because windows drivers don't give added functionality like drag-lock, scrolling, touch sensitiveness, tapping pressures etc.

Exactly. Plus you can't lose functionality when you already have none ;)
The most recent Synaptics driver can be found here or here

    Alright, thanks.

One more question, does anyone know if the Win7 that comes with the laptop is 32-bit or 64-bit? I've had the hardest time finding the answer on the internet and I can't turn the netbook on to check right now. I'm guessing 32-bit but I'm not certain.

Well, my problem still isn't solved. I installed the general Synaptics driver. Nothing has changed.

I mentioned this in a post to someone else although it shouldnt affect it but on my laptop I had problem with the scrollpad not working and this was due to launch manager, reading through some posts it seems synaptics and launch work together and this fixed my problem.

There is also an option in Synaptics that allows you to configure the scroll options and turn these on and off, I cannot be sure as im not at home but it allows you to change the pressure and different sections of the touchpad itself and customise them. Check it out in control panel.
