    It should be worth it, depending on what you want out of the deal. I have no idea why someone is taking an A70 (which I own) off your hands for a dual-core machine. Notebookreview comments on the Acer:

    Pros:

    * Dual core processor at a decent price
    * Brilliant 15.4-inch widescreen
    * Strong wireless connection
    * Integrated webcam
    * Quiet and cool (under med cpu speed)
    * DVD burner
    * 4.5 hrs battery life after a few tweaks.
    * Excellent track pad

    Cons:

    * Specifications were incorrect
    * Need to update ATI drivers to get correct GPU reading
    * Slow 4200 rpm hard drive
    * Standby/hibernation issues

    My own input is that you are trading a 2yo machine for one that it fairly recent. It has a superior processor, and probably beats the A70 in many other respects. Can't say much about the graphics card, though. In any case, it looks like a good trade. Like Vespoli said, post some specs for us to make sure.

    He said he would upgrade the laptop ram to 1024 and put in an 80 gig HD. will this laptop be faster than mine after he adds 1024 ram and an 80gig hd?

    bc135, he is saying that he owns the Acer; his friend wants to trade an A70 for the his Acer. Thats a terrible deal...keep the Acer IMO. But the ATI 9000 is a bit better than the integrated X1100 in the Acer; however dual-core is much more futureproof than the 3-4year old P4. I have the 5102, doesnt yours come with 1024Mb too?

    yeah your probably right, the p4 3ghz is probably a heat beast, has terrible battery life and it doesint help that the laptop is 2 years old.

    I guess the minor difference in videocards isnt enough to warrant a trade :)
