A quick question. Does the travelmate 2303Wlmi have a Celeron processor, or the mobile (-M) version? I ask because I am looking for a cheap laptop, and a retailer in the UK has it for £550, but says it does not have a mobile processor. Is this a mistake on their part, or a different (substandard) model?

    heres the link: http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/320_220884.html

    Thanks for any help.

It certainly has Celeron M processor 1.5 (340) GHz i thing it might be based on banias core with 512Kb cache . It performs almost same as Pentium M 1.5..but does not have extended speed step technology ...so might not have 4 hours back as pentium M models ..

For the Price this is good buy...

    Thanks for the info.

I think I will go and check it out in person. A quick look around the Control Panel will tell me whether their info about it is wrong.

From what ive heard, that probably is the case. I cant imagine it being anything other than a standard model.

A review I read said battery life was around 2.5hrs. Not bad, but certainly not great. Oh well, I cant complain, I was lucky to find such a good brand for a low price.

Well, I cant seem to find much info about the 2303Wlmi. Can anyone give me some pros/cons about it or the whole travelmate series in general?

    Any help appreciated.

Since you asked...the std battery that comes with 2300 series is 4 cell which why it give only 2 hours of battery life. if u get 8 cell battery which is of 4000 series it will last you 3.5 hours
and one more thing It Celeron M for sure not crappy normal celeron

    Pros:-
    Value for money
    DVD-Dual
    Celeron M not Usual Celeron
    Widescree

    Cons:-
    No S-Video output
    No Built in IRDA
    No Firewire port
    4 Cell battery
    --------

This unit comes in the same casing ..of 4000/4500 series hence..all the other components are basically the same
    Besides all The things l

The lack of ports isnt really a problem for me, as I dont expect a laptop to replace my desktop unit. I still prefer the interchangable parts of a desktop unit to provide me with power for games or other demanding tasks. I just dont expect it to be portable.

    Pros:
Value for money - Very important! I dont have that much...
DVD Writer - Very nice feature, I dont have one on my desktop.
Widescreen - Just something I fancy. Seems to be where things are going.
    Built-in g-type wireless - Definate plus.
Big HDD (for my price range)

    Cons:
No IR or Bluetooth or Firewire - I can live with that. Theres always PC cards.
Poor battery life - Quite annoying, I wanted 2.5hrs or above. I can always buy a spare though.

Well, in my opinion, the pros outweigh the cons, so I think i'll go for it! the only problem is getting my parents to cough up before comet sells out...

Sorry, but I dont quite get you.

Do you mean I should look for a laptop with 512mb RAM, or that I should upgrade this one to 512mb when I get it?

What i meant was to upgrade to 512Mb or more after you get it.
Its better to upgade it yourself
