Hey all! First post, long-time lurker. This place is a great source of info.
But unfortunately, next to nil on my poor little laptop.

I've looked high and low over the Internet, and the only sources of information on my TravelMate 3252WXMi that I've been able to find have been Acer's own website, and my own posts. Acer's site isn't exactly very useful, either - it had no information as to whether my hard drive was PATA or SATA.

I've got a serious urge to upgrade my lappy's CPU to a Core 2 Duo, but I've got some serious concerns before I go dropping up to $C200 on eBay:
    1. Do I believe Acer Tech Support that the CPU is soldered onto the motherboard?
    2. Should I get a pro to do this? I've upgraded the RAM and HDD myself, but I'm not so confident in taking the bottom off my Acer.
    3. Can the system even take it? My BIOS is version 1.06 from mid-2006, so it could be usable, but I'm not certain, and Acer's not saying anything. On top of that, the Acer Europe site has a BIOS for my model, v.1.08, but I've heard horror stories about bricked Acers.
    4. Is there any Acer model that's similar to mine that there's more info on? I'm seriously scratching my head about this.

Thanks for letting me air my concerns.
