I think, that the 4400 will not be availiable in North America, and only in Europe+Asia.

Only the 5002 and F-4000 will be availiable in NA.

This is only what I've heard from the boards..

    Please say I'm wrong!

The 4402 is listed on Acer Canada's website. It's also listed on Canadasys's website at $1489CDN (or about $1190US). I guess it's good to be wrong sometimes!

The 64MB video memory and lack of crystalbrite are the only two reasons why I don't already own this, although I'm still debating whether or not these are actually bad things.

Debating the same thing with myself. Crystalbrite is nothing I need. I found anti glare regular LCDs to be much more comfortable and atleast as ergonomic for you eyes if not better. 64MB VS 128MB, that is just a shame, but I don't have any number on what this would mean for performance... anyone? Basicly the 64MB issue is the only issue I have with this notebook. Simply tremendous value:
    Turion 64
ATI X700 (if only it was 128MB and they would tripple their sales of this NB)
    100GB 5400rpm HD
    DVDRWDL DVD RAM Slot load
WXGA (The best gaming resolution, for performance in native res.)
    Windows XP Pro

Everything is top notch, and so is the price! (But 64MB VRAM. Why is there always something...) $1299

I originally wanted a Ferrari 4000, but I have to agree with everyone here and say I just can't ignore the value of this notebook. No bluetooth is another. If this laptop was a bit more configurable it would be nice. I'm glad I checked this thread, I thought I had all the differences between the two pegged, but I just added CrystalBrite to the list. But $810 plus tax... I don't know if the differences add up.

One thing I'll say is going Turion is future friendly (Longhorn?), but 2 full DIMM slots at 512 total memory isn't. That can potentially add a little weight to the price in the future.

Best value I have seen in any notebook up to date! It is also certified and sold w/ Windows XP 64 Pro pre-installed in the UK so it's ready to go 64-bit fully supported without any hassel. For the features you get the price is incredible. Also just get a bluetooth USB adapter or even an internal PCMCIA card if you find out you need it... Anyone in to value AND gaming, it doesn't get better than this. I have even seen it for as low as $1,233
