Is it possible to upgrade/change CPU ?

Now CPU is Intel Celeron M520 (1M Cache, 1.60 GHz, 533 MHz FSB)
I want to replace it with better one, like T5500 (2M Cache, 1.66 GHz, 667 MHz FSB)

If T5500 does not work, wich one will ? (not celeron)

    Current data:

    HWiNFO32

    Socket M (mPGA478/mBGA479)
    MotherBoard: Acer Dallen
    Chipset: Intel 940GML/943GML (Calistoga-GML) + ICH7-M/U
    BIOS Phoenix v1.08
GPU: Intel GMA950 (Intel 82945GM(S/Z)/GT Internal Graphics [A3] [ACER])
    Memory: Dual-Channel Interleaved , Kingstone PC2-5300 DDR2-SDRAM SO-DIMM 333.3 MHz , 2x1024 MB (model 9905295-019.B00LF)
    Drive Model: WDC WD3200BEVT-00A0RT0 (320GB)

    Intel Chipset Utility

Detected Chipset: Mobile Intel(R) 945GM/GMS/940GML Express Chipsets or Intel(R) 945GT Express Chipset

    Memory Controller: 82945GM/GMS/82940GML or 82945GT

I/O Controller: Intel(R) 82801GBM/GHM I/O controller hub (ICH7M/ICH7MDH) SATA Controller found in AHCI mode

Don't do it. You will not notice a difference.

    Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T5500
    (2M Cache, 1.66 GHz, 667 MHz FSB) / # of Cores 2, # of Threads 2 /
    vs
    Intel® Celeron® M Processor 520
    (1M Cache, 1.60 GHz, 533 MHz FSB) / # of Cores 1, # of Threads 1 /

    No difference?

Is it opinion or experience ?

Any particular reason to go for T5500? It would make more sense to upgrade to sth like T7200 or T7400. These 400MHz or so and twice the cache will make a difference.

That is OK for me. But main question is - will that model of CPU work on described motherboard? T5500 is mentioned in some articles like possible substitute (but not 100%.).

Reason is TV watching and recording. Every good app doesn't work or hardly works because CPU goes 100%. Windows Media Center sometimes doesn't work at all. DScaler 4.19 works, but quality is poor. OS is Win 7 pro. TV tuner is USB 2.0 (sorry for bad english)

Thanks for info!! I'll try one of the faster CPUs (T7200 , T7400) (depend on the price difference).
