Apologies if this has been asked before.
I have an Acer TravelMate 6410, I have just upgraded the RAM from 2gb (2x1gb) to 4gb (2x2gb). Despite being told be Acer and several shops that it will take 4gb RAM it doesn't seem to like it. The BIOS only recognizes 3071 total RAM. On bootup the Acer splash is just a screen full of colour and the GRUB screen is just bands of colour so something is screwing with the video. When the OS (Linux) boots I get an error *drm/i915 can't work without intel_agp module. and can only boot into low resolution mode.
If I pull one 2gb stick everything is fine, If I use 1x1gb and 1x2gb it's screwy. I have tried two different lots of RAM from two different shops both bought as pairs with the same results.
    I bought: 2x2GB Kingston KVR800D2S6/2G 800MHz DDR2 Notebook Memory

The BIOS Ver 1.04 Phoenix css 2005 q2
VGA BIOS Ver Intel Ver 1313
