My daughter's travelmate saw far too much time with expensive shipping to have it repaired under Acer's warranty. After the last failure to boot, no more warranty, we gave up and bought a new one NOT AN ACER! I was being curious and using the service manual decided to take apart the ACER. I got only as far as removing the memory when I noticed the area to the left of the memory modules (north bridge?) is covered with cellophane tape. This doesn't seem normal to me Missing are the two original 128's memory modules. Seems like someone at ACER repair has sticky fingers. If anyone has a travelmate close to this one in model, I'd like to know if that tape should be there. Wondering what will happen if I pull it off, can't kill it as it's already dead.
