Just got a Trendnet IEEE 1394 FireWire CardBus PC Card, plugged it in the PCMCIA slot on my Travelmate 2420, fired up the notebook and XP doesn't recognize it - nada, nothing.

I tried a USB CardBus PC card and it detects it right away with no problem. Could it be the card, or will this Acer not support it? Do I need a driver? The FireWire card said it doesn't need one.

    Thanks.

Even if the firewire card said it didn't need one, OEM versions of XP can change from OS to OS (I think...correct me if I'm wrong). So try using a driver. Even a generic should work.
