I recently bought the Acer Travelmate 2423 WXMI and have some trouble with CPU-fan.
In my case, fan turns on for the first time after 2 minutes (for 2-3 sec), then periodicaly every minute
and after 8-9 minutes it does not turns off (its running with about 20% power).
CPU is stressed just to 2-4%.
Is it necessary at all, that fan is running all the time (when CPU is not stressed) ?
Thanks in advance

hi,
just wondering if you managed to get this problem resolved. Can I ask if you like the laptop otherwise. I was thinking of buying one but i'm not sure now. How do you find the screen - is it bright? Can you view it at an angle?
many thanks,

Processing/Quality is very good. Screen is bright enough (in my opinion), i
did not noticed any pixel errors.
I did not bought this model to play 3d-games on it, but it is enough to do some
basic image-processing with photoshop or programming (Java-eclipse, Flash ...). -
I'm interested in buy the Acer Travelmate 2423 WXMi and recently read your post about your 'problem' with the CPU fan. It should be normal that the CPU fan runs because the Travelmate has a Celeorn CPU, not a centrino with power saving mode.
But to my question: is the fan 'loud' and disturbing your feeling and working or is it 'okay' ?
It's because I want to buy the same notebook and not paying a lot of $ more for a centrino´.
Looking for your answer!

I´ve got the acer 2423 as well. This notebook is rather quite - comparable to the Dell Inspirion 6000 with Pentium M. If you use it for doing your home work etc. it is fine. I use my one for university. It is small, light and inexpensive - if you don´t play. Otherwise you need two...

btw, my Acer produces a whining noise on the right side. So, my opinion changed...
