I'm looking for a cheap laptop for my parents, who will be using it for internet, MS Office and no more. Having looked on some sites the Travelmate 2423WXMi seems like a good choice, as it's pretty portable, looks quite nice and has a fantastic price. I do not need high specs at all, a Celeron or Sempron is more than adequate. Are there any glaring faults with this laptop? As I said, performance is not an issue, I'm more looking for things like screen quality, excessive heat or noise, bits that break etc. Also, has anyone used acernotebooks.co.uk before and, if so, can you reccomend them? There's a link to the notebook on that site at the bottom of this post.

    Thanks

    wow!

first of all, i have never used this site before so i can not comment on there reputationbut i will comment on the computer it self

first of all, i think that would be perfect for what it is going to be used for, 2.5 hours battery!!! i did not know you could be the for the price. i have a cheap computer below, which has the same processer in it and all i use it for is word, little programing etc. and it works great and is a remarkably a though notebook. the only "fault" i guess us could say would be 256 ram windows takes almost 200mb ram leaving not to much to spare. if you were to take the 20 dollar upgrade to 512mb i would preform much better.

well just would alow for more applications to be open at one time and be able to switch between them faster

i think the base model would work fine but i personaly would take the ram upgrade. it not much anyway!!!

    wow! what a find :)
