Hi i have a Travelmate 2428 (2420 series) and for some reason my Wifi will not work. I have upgraded the system to XP Pro and installed the broadcom driver. When i open the Broadcom ultilities it says no adapter available and i am stupid enough to erase the hidden partition when i was doing the installation so i can't revert it back to factory setting..

    Please help!

is the wifi light or button on ?
did you burn the bootable cd's/dvd's ?

i use the broadcom software and love its simplicity.

find your device in device manager.and you can get the drivers from "here"

actually, one of my problem is that when i push the wifi button, the screen will show "WIFI enabled" or "WIFI disabled" but the light beside the button never came on... mine is P-M 1.7GHZ so i am pretty sure it should have internal wifi adapter, right?!

also, i don't think mine came with any cd at all! am i suppose to have a recovery cd of some sort? How many cd should i get?

i burnt my recovery to dvd which used only on dvd for the os and one for the applications.
with the wifi i just downloaded the software from the link above(as i had the same trouble as you).
i deleted all the drivers that where still hanging about then just installed the Broadcom drivers and software.

just checked your drivers are there.

it would show "device not found"if it wasn't there.
    your just having driver trouble.

you need to ensure that acer launch manager is installed and loaded in the system tray

Solved! I bought a system recovery disc thru eBay and that's thing worked like a dream! All driver were installed painlessly! I would highly recommend this recovery disc if you are having trouble with driver...and it only cost $14 US...and direct download...

Anyway, thanks for all the help hoggie and hairy lee ! cheers

you can do a recovery from the dvd's you are asked to burn when you first start your laptop......still nice to see it's working :)
