I have a Viewsonic VG900 19 inch LCD attached to my VGA output on my Travelmate 3200. The qualify of the display on the Viewsonic is much poorer when connected to the laptop compared with when it was connected to my desktop - the desktop only had Intel graphics and the lap has a Radeon 9700 I think. I talked with Viewsonic and Acer tech support and my vendors tech support. Reinstalled some drivers and what not. Acer were the funniest, after doing everything they asked, they asked me if the display was improved, I said no, and they responded "well it won't get any better then".

So is this because the laptop has poor external video hardware? Can I add a PC card graphics card that would improve the display.

The display is quite usable but the text is more fuzzy and colors are bit muted - disappointing because it's quite a decent monitor.

    Thanks for any help.

Try setting the monitor in it's native resolution, and also turn the refresh rate down to 60Hz. See if that helps.

Definitly try the native res. Non native resses on lcds are very bizarre. Also do you have recent drivers? The graphics card is very good. It supports resses that most others don't. I even got mine to work on a panasonic 42inch wide screen lcd tv.

BTW: Where did u get ur port replicator? I'm looking for one. The prices vary a lot, and a lot of retailers I don't trust.
