I'm looking at the "Acer Travelmate 4101WLMi", but how is the noise level on that machine? it has a Radeon X700 card, if this has any kind of meaning.

Anybody who already own a machine like that? can you say that it is noiseless?

I am the owner of an Acer Aspire 9101WLMi, but I think the noise is to loud. Just after starting Windows XP, the fan is on constantly, without any pauses. And I just use it for browsing, e-mail and that stuff..

    Help.

    Hi

I am the owner of an Acer Aspire 5024wlmi and it is not noiseless.

When running it on the Home/Office Desk power setting the fan is on all the time, speeding up when there is increased heat to dissipate, like when running a game, which can get quite noisy.

Running it on the Portable/Laptop setting reduces the amount of time the fan runs, because when it has finished it's job of cooling things down a bit it turns itself off until it is needed again. The speed of the fan is slower too.

So it isn't a noiseless machine but the fan doesn't run all the time and at full tilt. I am sure the 4101 would be pretty much the same.

I hope I have been of some assistance

    Jim

I have a 4102, the noise is not too bad. The factory installed harddisk (fujitsu or is it toshiba, 60gig 4200rpm) makes a little noise when you're doing intensive copying or using file intensive program. The fan comes on once in a while which is noisy but not too often and turns off after a min or two after it does its job.
