Hello, I've ordered an Acer Travelmate 8100 (8104 to be precise) from Buy.com. Not sure why but when I ordered it it was $2,154 (US) and is now $2,298.99, so I figured I got a fairly good deal on the laptop. The only problem is that there seems to be a severe shortage of these laptops. Is there anyway to find out when buy.com might get restocked with them? I've sent an e-mail to buy.com and have called Acer USA, neither with much information. If there's no real way to find out no problem, just have to wait, but if anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it.

    Thank you

    Jake

From what I've heard around these forums, the availiability is scarce and it's been pushed back to end of february early march for those who've ordered it within the last two weeks...

It's just a waiting game now..

    Goodluck!

I've done some searching on http://notebookforums.com/ under some of the larger Travelmate 8100 threads and as far as I can tell it looks like the 8104s will start "storming the beaches" so to speak starting 3/1 and on into the middle of March. From what it sounds the 8103s won't be in for some time after the 8104s.

Just thought I'd give a heads up to anyone still chomping at the bit for the 8100s. From what most people can reason/guess/divine from goat entrails, most online retailers will be receiving their supplies at around the same time. So if you still want an 8104 pick your retailer and cross your fingers. :)

Plenty of 8104's over here in Hong Kong. However, im looking at the 8102 or the 8103 model..but unfortunetly Acer only decided to sell the 8104 here [ :(!]
