Alright guys. I should have joined years ago with the battles ive had with my old laptop but its now finally winning the battle. Its a few years old (5ish) now but I need it to last atleast this year.

I think the powerjack maybe the problem as the power goes on and off as you move the power cable. Suddenly its got a lot worse but if I reboot the LT the power is fine for 10 mins or so.

It just doesnt make any sense (to me) unless maybe its more than just the jack. I dont move the cable when I reboot so why would the power suddenly work if its a physical problem?

I was considering getting the jack fixed but now im not sure what to do. Im trying to do a MBA while working 50 hours a wk and have a young family :D all I need now is to type with a flickering picture constantly getting brighter/duller/off - I doubt the power switching about like this is doing the LT much good either.

Any suggestions? I cannot really afford to get it looked at hence im here - just put a new PATA HDD in it aswell as the last one packed in. Its trying to tell me something I think....
