    Hi,

I'm new to the forum, so please forgive me if this isn't the right place to ask this question, but looks like you have a few experts around here! (I did try a search, but couldn't find anything similar)

I have an Acer Travelmate, which mostly I have had switched on & running under mains power, it's a couple of years old.

Got to it recently, it was off - turned out there was no power at the dc end of the adapter - blown supply. Bought a replacement, plugged it in, and off it went. After 20 minutes or so, it was bleeping at me, and cutting a long story short, there was another failed power supply.

Coincidence or is this a fault with the laptop? Put it into the local repair guy - he reckons it needs a new motherboard - I'm reluctant to do that if I don't need to...

    Thanks,

    --------------------------
    Regards,

    Ian

if you have a working power adapter,,,

you might try removing the BATTERY and then plugging up the AC ADAPTER,
i just wonder if this could be another case of an OLD BATTERY causing strange things....
