    Travelmate 8200 replacing hard drive

    Anyone done this? Mine seems to be starting to pack up, I assume it's a Sata drive (think I have that right) I'm hoping I can replace it with a 320GB new drive.

    TM 8200 has SATA drive as far as I know. You should be able to swap your current one with a 320GB....

    Okay thanks for the confirmation, just ordered a new drive, the current one as well as BSOD'ing on me once with "Unmountable Boot Volume" is making strange humming noises... not good... really NOT good.

    SO the followup... anyone know if Acer will replace the drive if I sent it to them, I do have a 3 year warranty, but really don't want to do without the machine for ... however long it takes them to replace the drive (which quite frankly is childsplay if you get the right kind of drive).

    you can call them up and ask for an advanced exchange, will require a hold on your Credit card though. they will send you a new hdd, put your old one in the box and send it back with the included return label
