Travelmate 8371 and 8471 can be called business versions of 3810T and 4810T "Timeline" machines, specwise they seem to be about the same, except displays are matte (which is a very good thing IMHO, considering ultraportable machines are meant to be used in locations where you usually can't control lighting).
Waiting for reviews...

I really hope these notebooks makes it to Canada before Fall. The Travelmate 8371 has a DVD drive which probably accounts for the extra weight over the 3810T.
If the Asus P30A comes out soon, I'll have a tough decision on my hands. The Travelmate 8371 is about 3.6 pounds with the option for the discrete graphics card, but the P30A lightens it up at 3.3 pounds with an integrated graphics card.
If both are available in Canada(unlikely at this point), I'll have a tough decision on my hands. I don't want to settle for a 4810T Timeline notebook. -

In which countries are they for sale ?
9 cell battery option available ? -
Where did you read this ? -
"This sounds like a very good deal, as you simply can't get a thin and light thirteen with a matte screen for that kind of money anywhere else."

DO YOU AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT ? -
looks like it out here

though I'm not sure about the website -
Well my dreams of owning the 8371 are now squashed. I just got an email from Acer Canada saying they have no plans to release the 8371 and I'm assuming the 8471 as well. I'm probably not going to get the P30A by fall either.
My options for an ultraportable notebook with a DVD are getting slimmer every day. My last hope is if Sony releases a cheap CULV ultraportable, but I doubt it. I hate paying the Sony tax but at least they release their best computers in Canada. All Asus and Acer gives Canadians are netbooks and chunky notebooks.
I'm being dramatic, but when you see your perfect notebook getting the cold shoulder it’s hard to settle for your 3rd choice. -
Any figures about the brightness cd/m2 for the 8371 ?

While losing HDMI, it gains Easyport IV dock, which has following specs:
Platform
* Plug&Play 68-pin connector
Dimensions and Weight
* 265W x 62D x 26.5H
333grs.
Communication ports
* 10/100/1000 Ethernet network support, Wake-on-LAN ready
I/O interface
* 4 USB 2.0 ports
DVI-D (Digital Video Interface -Digital) port
VGA port (External display)
Headphones/Speaker/Line-out jack
Microphone-in jack
Line-in jack
RJ-45 Ethernet port
DC-in jack for AC adapter
Security
* Slot for Kensington lock
So you can connect to flatpanel monitor or tv with DVI or DVI->HDMI cable. Which is nice. -
As far as the North American market, I would expect Acer to bring them as well. It just takes time for them to release it here.
Wait a little while and I bet its likely it will be sold in North America. The Current Travelmate models are outdated and the 8371 would be the replacement.
It makes totally no sense for Acer not to have the 8+ Hour battery life on the business class Travelmate's.
As to when they will be added is anyones guess however.
