My laptop has some major heating problems. while playing games its temperature goes up to 105 degrees celsius! I've tried following the "undervolting" guide but i don't think rmclock supports my processor, the AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-75.

Anyone know how to undervolt this processor?
Or any way i can reduce temperatures? I've tried opening it up and cleaning the fan but it's really difficult to access the fan in my model and i can't find any guides online. I have a cooling pad but it hardly helps and I have no idea where to get a can of compressed air.
    Please help me!

    Windows 7 ultimate x64
    AMD Turion(tm) X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-75
    ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570

Any computer shop will have compressed air available.
Undervolting is not a solution for you (at least not on its own).
Even if you manage to get temps down by 10*C which is a lot (although it is possible) it's still going to be way too hot.
First thing to do is to re-apply thermal paste.
That would require dismantling the laptop though.
Or if it's covered by warranty and you don't feel like doing it yourself, you may just send it back to Acer to do it.

I will PM you the 5536 service manual.

Compressed air you can get from many hardware stores.. ebay also if you want.

Clean out the fan... remove the dust from the vents.. im guessing you place your laptop on a solid surface when not using cooling pad.

as for undervolting.. i dont know too much about amd but have a read here:

[HowTo] Undervolting the AMD Turion X2 (and some others) - Ubuntu Forums

Looks like you have disabled private messaging so i cant send it to you :p

As downloads mentioned, you'll need to do more. But if you want to undervolt try out pumastatectrl, Turion Power Control or K10stat. I used to use the pumastatectrl when I had this generation of Turion (ZM 86) in my hp tx2500. It helped a little but didnt get the temperatures down by much. I dont know what AMD did but this generation seem to run much hotter than their previous generation Turions.

Crap the warranty ran out a few months ago.. Anyway thank you for your help.

I also get an intermittent lag while gaming. I get heavy lag every 15 minutes for about a minute. I know it's caused by the overheating but do you know if there's anyway i can stop this from happening?

By preventing it from overheating. Have a look at the service manual for your laptop. See the disassembly process.. and as said clean out the dust and reapply the thermal paste (if cleaning out the dust isnt enough)

I have the service manual. According to it i have to almost dismantle everything before i reach the fan. I'm afraid i might break something.. Will check out the link. Thanks!

I have k10stat but i'm not too sure of how to use it and i don't want to screw anything up by accident.

The guide's meant for ubuntu users.. i have windows 7

You are not getting anywhere this way.
You're looking at a laptop that's not working but you are afraid to try to fix it.
The worst thing that may happen if you under-volt too much is that the notebook hangs/reboots under load. So you start it again and increase voltage a bit and try again under load.
As for dismantling it- you have the service manual with photos. All you need to do is follow instructions. You will not be able to avoid re-applying thermal paste anyway- not with temps like this.

Anyway- no reason to worry. It's an easy process and all it requires is an ability to use a screwdriver. You'll do fine :)

BTW- use EDIT button instead of multi-posting.

Sorry about that i'm a bit new to forums.

I'm not afraid of undervolting i just don't know how to use k10stat. There are plenty of buttons in k10stat and i'm sure they haven't put them there for fun. If you could just explain how the p states work and what exactly i have to do that would be great.

I'll try dismantling it if acer charges too much. I have dismantled plenty of desktops but never a laptop. Everything's a bit more fragile in a laptop.
Anyway thanks again for all your help :)
