i just bought an acer aspire 5102wlmi without a HD for a friend. so i went and bought a HD and proceeded to install windows XP home service pack 2.

the problem is it constantly stays in a loop, i load and boot from the disc, it copies all the files, reboots, loads the files, says starting windows, and then just starts all over by going back to the setup screen. i've formatted the drive and made multiple attempts. had anyone else had this problem? if so what is the solution?

can you choose not to boot from cd when the computer starts up ?

your laptop seems to be booting in this order : first cd , second hdd

if thats the case you should have the option to press a key ( or not) to start from cd...

yes this disk you create embeds the SATA drivers to allow windows to see the HDD after the reboot durring the install

this disk is for INTEL based LAPTOPS... and will work on almost any BRAND AND MODEL unless it has an AMD CPU
