I have an Acer aspire 7720-6568 and would like to up grade my hard drive to a 500GB and to 7200rpm. Is this possible? (will this work with the rest of the components) Also is there place on the web that will give me this info? Other things I would like to upgrade thinking it would be cheaper to upgrade than spend a thousand bucks for a knew one and you might advise me on this if you don’t mind.
    Thanks

Hard drive upgrades are the second-easiest to do, after RAM.
There shouldn't be any real compatibility issues once you've transferred your data and reinstalled your operating system.
    Go for it!

    As for other upgrades...
    1. If you haven't maxed out the RAM yet, do so now. Windows loves having more RAM.
    2. The CPU can be upgraded, but it's tricky to do and may not always give you the best bang for your buck. But if you're doing a lot of multimedia encoding, moving to a faster Core 2 Duo will speed things up immensely. Look for a Socket P CPU in the T7 or T8 series, or a T9300 or T9500.
    3. Unfortunately, the GPU on your system can't be upgraded - it's an Intel GMA X3100, and thus part of your chipset. If you want to improve your 3D gaming capabilities, just get a new notebook.
