Ok to all who have helped , none of the crisis disks work with this machine , i have no idea why?, not even usb floppys, mem sticks nor cd,s.
with the help of some users (Bigozone & Andy + lostboykev & Elbubi to name but 4) I have located the bios chip on the motherboard,
I have sorced a chip, and it is at this momet being programed for me
it should be with me by end of week (fantastic guy very willing to help and very cheap, if you req bios chips well worth a call.web site is

    www.bios-repair.co.uk

    ebay site is

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=270268820412&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=017

the time here is 18:49 and I have just desolderd the chip from the mother board, all went ok and looks like a good job, all the pads are still attch to the motherboard and looks like nothing has lifted , have re solderd the pads ready for the chip, so that will be the next post (when it,s here ) fitting and the acid test will it boot????
    will keep you all informed
many many thanks to all who have helped me out
    Steven :)

you don't waste much time once you know what has to be done do you steve?

looks like an excellent job of removing the old chip... you may even want to buy a socket for that chip and solder it to MB.. then you will never have to desolder the BIOS again.

the socket is not needed it would just be a nice touch if you can find one QUICKLY,,, i can tell you are ready to have your laptop back up and running!

anyway i can tell you don't need the videos i was going to send that show how to solder surface-mount chips with a regular soldering iron.... it looks like you have the soldering under control.

i look forward to hearing about your successful installation of the BIOS chip.

    later,
    bigO

there are videos on YOUTUBE demonstrating techniques....

flux and a solder wix are very important,, but it can be done even on smaller ICs

Thanks for the comments, would not have belived i could have done this, but its all down to the help i have recived from you guy,s
lookk forward to the next thrilling installment (as they say) as i am writing this the post has just arived so gonna check and see if the chip is in it.
    back later.
    steve

    Back now
and the chip has arived , unfortunatly is got legs that curl under (for use as press in socket), so gonna be a bit longer before i get it fitted as i have orderd a socket for it, should be here in a day or two, thought it best not wanting to start to bend the legs on the chip outward , should make for a better job anyway, and keep any heat from sodering away from the chip, also if needed chip can then be just pulled instead of desolderd should it need to be replaced at any future date,
just wondering if all go,s to plan and it boots up (which i hope it does) should i change Notebook Enthusiast(under my name)to Notebook Enthusiast advanced learner

well just got in from work (work as a club Dj in manchester my stint tonite was 10 till 1 )
checked my email 1 from acer
was gonna tell you all what it said but will just cut & paste

Hello, Thank you for contacting Acer.

    Regarding your enquiry,

This would be classed as a chargeable repair, the process would be the following.

There will be a £53.13 charge taken from you before your machine is brought in for repair. You will then be given courier details so that you may arrange collection of your machine for shipment to our repair centre. Once received in the repair centre it will undergo assessment by one of our technicians. They will draw up a written proposal for you containing full details pertaining to your repair. This will be sent to you by post giving you ten days to respond.

Once you have received the proposal you have the option to reject it, which means the £53.13 will cover the engineer and couriers fees, and the machine will be returned to you un-repaired.

After ten days, if your proposal is not signed and returned to us by fax or post the repair is defaulted as rejected, your machine is not repaired, and shipped back to you.

We can not give estimates of repair costs, under any circumstances, without the machine being diagnosed by an Acer technician

If you would like to book your machine in for an assessment please let us know and we will make the necessary arrangements.

    Regards

    Acer Technical Support Team

as you can see from this email, £53 quid just to get it to them , and then repaird on top, was told if needed new bios would recomend new board (£100+)
so chaps, my bios cast say £12 socket £3 postage under £5, (would have been less if i orderd the socket with the chip)
thats a bit of work & £20 to replace it , just shows what you can save (with a little help from my friends)(as the Beatles would say), dont be afraid to try, if its bust you have nothing to loose & everything to gain by trying, and dont listen to them that say cannot be done , where there,s a will theres a way,
not stoping long dead tired, hope this socket get here sat ,or l8test monday, will photo what hapens and post,
just thought it might nbe a good idea to do that if you repair anything sort of step by step photo guide to repairs, could help a lot of users, they say a picture ios worth a thousand words, might be something to chew over,
how to replace memory, vid cards etc, repair this & that,
    worth talking about???
    let me know
    Steven

i'm glad to see you have things back up and booting!! congrats on the success... and i'm sure your little experiment will benifit others suffering from corrupted flashes...

i know i'm tempted to oreder myself a BIOS replacement and a socket just so i can "upgrade" to a socketed BIOS ;)

    good job steven.
