Just wondering, is it possible to refit the 5920 with a DVD Rewriter with a HD-DVD drive in the future (when prices go down)?

If it is possible, would one need to buy the exact part Acer are fitting in their laptops now, to ensure it fits properly, or is there a standardised size of laptop HD-DVD rom drive I will be able to buy from a normal retailer?

I would of course want it to match the black resin plastic material the current DVD drive and the surrounding area are made of. The material is exactly the same.

Wait, doesn't the 5920 come standard with an HD DVD ROM drive?

You would be surprised how many different configurations of the 5920 Aspire there are.

Thanks for the reply andyasselin, In the future I might want to make full use of the HDMI port on this laptop, and knowing I'll be able to upgrade in the future, is reassuring.

do you need HD DVD? I would stay away from this until a standard is picked. As of right now, it seems like blu-ray is winning the competition.

When will one be able to tell a decisive winner? I wasn't born when the Betamax/VHS wars came to a close, but what allowed VHS to come out strong?

that is the truth as vhs was the worst (technically)of the 3 .......yep there was another besides betamax ....cant quite remember the name of the other one though

betamax was a lot better quality than vhs but the advent of porn won it for it

have sony banned porn from the blu-ray format.....anyone!

The other standard was from Philips called video2000.
From these 3 it had the best picture and sound quality.
But being launched by philips it never became a big success.
Like it often happened with better products from philips.
