 HI FELLAS! in my earlier thread i was asking if i could upgrade my X700 gfx and was kindly helped! so i thought i'd return the the favour, there is now 5.9 version of the X700 gfx as well as an upgraded version of the ATI modtool that allows for 64bit!! this will also allow for the ati control panel!!! i can't supply links (because i don't know how) but you'll find both of these at there sites.I've installed both and can report no problems so far if anyone can give an expert view as to what benefits or detractions I'd welcome there opinons!! cheers hope this helps everyone :) p.s i'll try to track down the links to make it easier for people and learn to set up links for the future! okey bye.

Hi redfrog,I think that none of the acer laptops come with the ati control center as standard i dont know why! i think it's to do with the gfx driver that comes with the laptop as standard the only way, as I've since found out is to upgrade your driver to the 5.9 catalyst driver using the ati modtool from drivers heaven site. This new driver is'nt even released yet! so if you want to play it safe go for the 5.8 catalyst driver (you'll still need the modtool though) As for the control centre aspect I think it gives you more control over settings for your card! but i think people like chazman could probably elaborate more! ok hope that helps ;) p.s if you do decide to go for the 5.8version you won't get the control centre again i don't know for sure but have been informed that it only works with desktops strange but there you go!! wether there's a disernable increase in peformance with the 5.8 and 5.9 i don't know I've yet to benchmark either again hope this helps i'm know expert!!!

Hi again just to amend something i posted earlier with the 5.9 it's not the control panel (You get that anyway) its the control center which you don't get with the 5.8 version and the ati modtool is version 3! and for anyone needing to know you need .net framework for everthing to work good luck
