    Hi,

I have a 5044WLMi which currently has 512mb PC-2700 RAM. Is it worth upgrading this to 1GB total or would I not notice much difference unless I went up to 1.5GB total?? The reason I am slightly reluctant to buy 1GB more is because I will never be able to re-use this in the future, due to any future laptops having atleast DDR2 memory.

Is an extra 512mb worth it and will I notice a difference in general performance (Remember about 64mb is taken away for Integrated Graphics)
    ----------------------

    Also my next questions are:

    A) What speed is the 80GB HDD in my Acer Laptop?
    B) Is this a pATA drive or SATA?
    C) Will upgrading to a faster rpm drive improve general performance?
    -----------------------

The good thing about a HDD is that I should be able to re-use this in the future if I keep the current one safe to put back into the laptop when I sell it. Can't decide if it is worth spending the money to upgrade the laptop or just save the money towards a new laptop, I have only had this one since about last Sept/Oct and use it mainly for Web Design, Java/C# Programming, Listening to music/playing video etc.

If I did the upgrade of 512mb Ram and a faster HDD would the laptop last me another year or two before it just got too slow? I will be running XP Pro all this time.
