    HI ALL
I would like to upgrade my laptop TM5520G with new graphic card. I would like to ask if someone of you try to install NVidia GeForce 9650M GT ? I have read that Aspire can be upgraded, but this model is made with NVidia cards generaly. Thanks for any advice.

Hello radoslaf, and welcome to the forums!
This is the first I've heard of a TravelMate 5520G wanting to upgrade - theoretically, the internals between it and the Aspire 5520G are very similar, if not identical.
Which means that a 9650M GT upgrade is potentially feasible; by that same token, you might have more luck with something like the 8600M GT.

Is there really big diffrence between 8600 and 9600 series ? I am not sure, but this series have same basics. I am worried about the North bridge. My TM5520 has ATI 690 RS, but AS5520 is built on NVIDIA chipset nForce 630M. I have read that someone try 8600 but it does not work.

Yes, there is - they are different GPU cores, and as such can have variances in compatibility.

As for the chipsets, that's what I was afraid of. Stupid Acer not keeping their model names straight...

The only way to know for sure now is to try it out yourself. MXM upgrades are still finicky things, mostly because Acer themselves don't support it.

It seems that it is a MXM II card so you could upgrade with 3650 (try to get the one with ddr3) which is not that expensive (try searching on ebay) or to a more expensive 4650...

I didn`t mention Nvidia because probably for you would be the best to upgrade with Ati card...

Try putting a load onto the GPU - the HD4650 has idle speeds, a function where it downclocks itself when not in heavy use, to save on power, and by relation, reduce it's heat output.

Yes when this is in idle the clock are 200 MHz for core and 250 MHz for memory. But Kris Verbeeck explain "Some machines interpret the performance modes differently. Easily solved through Radeon Bios Editor + atiwinflash."
