I have finally fitted my new tl-60 into my aspire 3050 ZR3 and I have to say that it screams along now in XP.
All is not well though, when I have the battery in, everything goes really strange. I have read a few threads on here discussing such issues as the keyboard not accepting user input and the mouse cursor jumping all around the screen. When the battery is removed however, everything is absolutely fine.
I have heard that these laptops (3050 and 5050) have real issues when the battery is knackered. I have ordered a new one from fleabay:

At the bottom it states that it is not suitable for dual core notebooks. Can anyone think why this would be so? I believe that there are some 5050 models with tl-60's in, so it seems strange that a battery would not support certain processors.

If it cannot support the increased power requirements, that would definitely cause issues.

It's also entirely possible that the 5050 can come with an alternate battery pack with a higher wattage/voltage to meet a dual-core's requirement.
Upgraded 3050 to dual core - Battery problems!
