    Upgraded Aspire 5672 from X1400 to X1600 GPU

    In case anyone is interested I have just had the main board changed in my Aspire 5672. It used to have an ATI X1400 graphics processor but now has the X1600 instead. The 3DMark05 benchmark has changed from 1743 to 2821.

    I got mine from Acer. I had to send the machine in for repair anyway as somehow two of the USB ports had been damaged. They said that to fix this they would have to replace the main board so I asked if I could have it replaced with the X1600 board instead of the X1400 one. I had to pay the difference in cost but that was not very much.

    That's using the old noggin to figuring out a way to upgrade the GPU. Now if we can only think of a way to upgrade the x1600...
