    G'day fellow enthusiasts!

I am looking to purchase a new video card somewhere in the future (probably more likely in the distant future)... but I wish to know what graphics cards are compatible with the Notebook Acer Aspire 6935G? I do not know too much about video cards, and not too sure about compatibilities, and I don't want to stuff up. :)

Anyway at the moment the video card it is a 9600M GT 512 mb. I'm looking for probably a 1GB one, something thats more powerful anyway. Any suggestions? :) Thank you!! :D

PS. I will give as many details as possible to help:
    -
    Motherboard:
    Manufacturer: Acer
    Product: Aspire 6935
    Version: PSMBOU-1234567
Serial Number: Base Board Serial Number
    Ports: 0
    Slots: 6
    BIOS Details:
    Name: InsydeH2O Version V1.13
    Manufacturer: Acer
    Version: V1.13

    Video card:
    Adapter Name: GeForce 9600M GT
Chipset Name: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
    Video Memory: 512.00 MB
    Compatibility: NVIDIA
    DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAC
    Architecture: VGA

Anything else needed, please do not hesitate to ask! Thank you once again! :)

    HD 4650 DDR2 1GB would be a bit of a sidegrade.

I did see a GT240M MXM II posted by niffcreature at some point which might work. Otherwise overclocking that 9600M would likely be your best bet.

Be careful there, Sarge. Remember that more video memory makes a smaller impact on GPU performance than faster video memory. The 512MB 9600M GT you have is equipped with GDDR3, so it outpaces the 1GB DDR2 version of the 9600M GT.
Heck, it's probably on par with the 1GB DDR2 HD 4650.

Thats why I called it a sidegrade.

It would be a little bit faster in modern titles.

However I think best value can be obtained with overclocking.

Interesting. Cheers guys! I will look into overclocking my video card into more detail.

I have attempted it, and poorly overclock it using rivatuner (actually its not too great, as it only lets me select core clock as 600 (actually thats pretty alright), shader as 1200 (Used to let me select 1550 if memory serves right!) and memory as 450 (used to let me select ~800!).

I'm going off on more of a sidetopic here, but do any of you know how to "increase" that slider bar so I'm "allowed" to go to higher levels? I used to be able to select way more, and not sure why I can't anymore.

Thanks for the advice too though guys! :)

EDIT: Nevermind I found it in the settings!! I will now take it easy and place it on settings which I know are safe to handle. Thank you!!! :)

    (Does a little happy dance.)

You can always try to find and buy a GTS 250m GDDR5/3. It'll be a big upgrade over your current GPU. However, it uses about 5 watts more (23 VS 28). So if you want to pursue this path, make sure your cooling is sufficient.

I'd say if your GPU and CPU under load doesn't cross 60/70oC, should be good to go.

My settings I had before that Rivatuner wouldn't let me change, meant that my 3D mark score was 4878. Now it is 7063, because its at actually proper settings (which are not too hot either, nothing reaches 70).

That just makes me so much happier, I can game more comfortably. :) I don't think I'll need to get a new GPU. :)

I've heard hat the Acer 6935 can use a Radeon HD 4650 1GB DDR3 card. Is this the one 109-B80631-00A and will it work in my laptop?

That one will work, but it's DDR2 not DDR3.

The only MXM II DDR3 card was made by MSI for an MSI notebook.

    What about this?
    ATI HD 4650 M96 DDR3 1GB MXM II Video VGA Card LS-5001P
    ATI HD 4650 M96 DDR3 1GB MXM II Vedio VGA Card LS-5001P | eBay

I got broken aspire 6935 and the video card was short circuited. Laptop wouldn't start att all.

I took the GPU out and it started, but no display of course.

I bought new GPU, ATI HD 4650 M96 DDR3 1GB MXM II, and this is upgrade compared to original card. New card is installed and laptop starts normally and everything souds about right but no display.

Do i have to make bios update or what should i do next to get the display working.

Now i have tried to flash bios with no success yet.
    Can you help me?

    Hi Cype,
My 6935g has died and looking at other posts I think its the GPU board that needs replacing. I was wondering if you had any tips on taking out the old card - I've not done this before and was a little worried about removing the heat sinks etc to get at the GPU board. Would you be able to offer a few step by step tips?
How did you get on with upgrading your GPU card? I was just going to replace with the same so as not to also have bios issues etc unless there's a board (perhaps a T9900 board) that makes more sense?
    Many thanks for any help!
    Cheers,
    Phil
