I want to upgrade my Acer Ferarri 3200 to get better performance in games and benchmarks. What can and should I upgrade to achieve this?
-
Well the only thing i can see that you can do is add more RAM and maybe a faster HD...
besides that I dont think there are any other ways... -
So the Cpu and the videocard is impossible to upgrade? I've seen that the Travelmate 8100 has an ATI MR X700. Can I swap my videocard for that one?
-
no, you cant upgrade your graphics card on the system you currently run you only have the option of the hard disk and ram.
the laptop you use doesnt support graphics card pci express unlike the 8100 series.
you could either by more ram (512mbx2 or 1gbx2)
or a faster hdd, either 5400rpm or 7200rpm.

Most video cards are soldered into the motherboard in the notebook right?
Its the new ones that can be a bit more customizable? -
Easy upgrades are a faster harddrive and more ram; that'll let you see some better performace in games. If you are comfortable with poking around in your notebook you could probably upgrade your CPU to the one used in the Ferrari 3400+(2.0ghz) model since thats the fastest one out in low power Athlons but I don't think it'd be worth it.
The video card in the 8100 can't be upgraded either. From what I've read there are still no video upgradable laptops even with PCI-E out, unless you consider the Sager/Clevo model going from the NVidia 6800 to the Radeon x800 a big upgrade.
