I know a lot has been written in various threads about how to upgrade a 5672 from XP Home to XP Professional. This info seems spread out all over the ACER forum and hard to put my hands on it.

Can someone give me a guide as to how to do it the safest and easiest way? I know there are issues with drivers, etc. and having to maybe download them separately.

Also, will the Acer software work?

    Thanks.

As long as you have your own copy of XP Pro, you should be fine. YOu might want to download the drivers and burn it to a cd, that will make things much easier. The only problem you might have is the camera, its notorious for being a B!&#* to get working after a reinstall. Acer software will work, yes.

YOu might want to make a back up recovery of your main partition, and one of your back up partition, just to offer a bit of redundancy.

As for your step by step instructions

    1. Insert XP Pro cd.
    2. Restart.
    3. Pres F12 (or boot selection button, w/e it is) after POST
    4. Press any key to boot from CD.
    5. Once you get their, choose the option to format your main drive and convert to NTFS. (You can merge the main with the back up, although I left my main at 100 gigs and w/e was leftover I left as a back up partition for me to store ghost back up images.)
    6. Continue with the install.
    7. Install drivers.

    I think that's about it.

    Thanks for the feedback.
Sounds easy. I have read about the camera issue too.

I will make the plunge soon.
