Is it possible to upgrade the whole motherboard so I can have a working C2D processor? My current motherboard only supports up to Core Solo T1350. Any help is appreciated.

Yes it is possible. I wouldn't suggest it for anyone who doesn't have much experience or isn't confident with hardware but it is a fairly straightforward process and there is always a first time for everyone.

One thing you may want to look out for is some 3680 motherboards are PATA (IDE) while some are SATA and they are not compatible with each other so you may want to find what yours is to avoid replacing your HDD at the last minute.

I also have the accursed 940GML motherboard and am looking to replace it when I find a good deal on Ebay.

If you need help opening up your 3680 you can find some instructions here and there are also pleanty on Youtube

Alright thanks for the info. And it's no problem opening/putting together my laptop, my old brother can do it in 10 minutes.
