Hye i have a acer aspire 5050, and it runs windwons vista and i hate it because its soo slow. Also i use programs like adobe after effects and sony vegas, these both run fine but the computer sometimes crashes. I also play game on here like world of warcraft wich runs fine but warhammer age of reckoning doesnt. How can i upgrade my laptop so it runs faster, better performance etc. The stock ram was 1.2 and i just updated it to 1.5. If someone could tell me how to upgrade it more for better performance could you please tell me and point me in the right directions for tutorials and parts. thanks

Upgrade to two identical 2gb sticks of RAM to take advantage of dual channel properties and to increase your overall amount of RAM. Upgrade to a 7200 RPM drive (I could not find out if you are using a SATA or a PATA drive). Both of these would be relatively easy ways to increase your laptop's performance.

If you're feeling hardcore you may be able to upgrade your processor and would probably get a pretty significant boost from this.

I've had that computer. Mine was running stock with 1GB of RAM... lucky I was using it just for notes and internet. I would beef up the RAM to 3GB or 4GB. I upped mine to 3GB and it did everything MUCH better. I would not bother upgrading the Hard drive, as that will require you to reload all your applications and it will only make a minor difference.

btw you're hard drive is SATA.

When you buy RAM for it, make sure that it's running at 667 MHz, and that it is DDR2.
