My laptop came with a 2 GB memory (1+1) DDR2 677 mhz. I'm having a 3 GB (2+1) DDR2 533 mhz RAM from my HP laptop which is now broke.

    I'm considering upgrading my RAM to 3 GB :D . i.e ( 1 GB @ 677 mhz + 2 GB @ 533 mhz ). I have an nvidia 8600 GT with 256 MB dedicated memory and turbo cache feature( 768 MB taken from RAM )

Will there be any negative impact in my PC's performance in gaming if i upgrade RAM with the above configuration?

Please suggest if i can go ahead with the upgrade.

    Thank you.

The laptop won't recognize the other stick..RAM should always be at the same frquency, either 533 or 667, you can't stick both in, your laptop won't recognize it..

That simply isn't true. You can jam both sticks in BUT your machine will run match the sticks speed at the lowest frequency. So in your case 553mhz.

I would recommend buying a 2x2GB CL5 (5-5-5-15) 667mhz DDR2 memory kit so that your machine can run dual channel properly at 667mhz.

As for max memory the 5920G can take up to 2x 4GB sticks so total of 8GB of ram although you would need to run a 64 bit OS to take advantage of more than 3-4GB

    This isin't true.
Second this. But a CL5 667Mhz RAM, that would be the best option. 1GB sticks can't be that expensive either.. :)
