Hi I have an Acer Travelmate 4070WLMi which had the following problems:

    1) the keyboard was terribly slow I had to keep the keys pressed down before the letters would be viewed on the screen
    2) the touchpad isn't working like it should so I'm using an external usb mouse
    3) the PC wouldn't turn off using windows, so I had to turn it off by keeping down the power button
    4) It was very slow and wouldn't let me install anything

I thought I may have got some sort of virus so yesterday I formatted it and now here's what's happening:

    1) the keyboard doesn't work anymore not even keeping the keys pressed down, sometimes it works fine like a normal pc but most of the time it doesn't work at all.
    2) the touchpad still has the same problems
    3) no use trying to turn it off with windows, and now not even the power button turns it off anymore. So since the battery has been dead for a while, inorder to turn the pc off I have to pull the power cable.

The only thing that changed for the better after formatting the pc was the overall speed in bootup and windows.

Can any shed some light as to what I have to do? I know an external usb keyboard will fix the keyboard problem, but what about the rest?

    thanks
