    Hi everyone,

Came to the forum looking for a few things myself and while i'm here i can answer any questions u might have regarding the V7-482PG. Don't worry about the suffixes as all the V7-482PG-xxxx are the same make, just different parts.

Some quick thoughts, very nice laptop, impressed. Although after two weeks of use, heat/heavy usage will hurt this laptop in the long run so make the most of it while you're still in warranty. Specifically the area near the top of the keyboard gets HOT, as in i cannot hold my finger there for longer than 1~2 seconds, that's how hot it is. And i'm not being overly sensitive either as i've owned some hot laptops in the past and never to a point where the upper part of the keyboard became so unbearably hot. The other point of concern is that this is the TOP side of the keyboard so in other words the underside of the PCB is putting out this kind of heat.

Which is why i'm here, i've been looking for a fan control utility and to share my experience.

For example after some light gaming, i.e. League of Legends(yes 1080P; highest settings; 60fps) for about 30~40mins nets me 71c and 72c for the CPU and GPU respectively. Which are pretty great temps on one the cpu/gpu dies but not so good on the upper half of the keyboard as it's close to the same temps(no infrared sensor; sorry). It's too bad it's not a metal chasis! Or the keyboard/palm rest panel at the very least.

    Thanks,
    Dave

What are your thoughts on the typing experience on the keyboard? How much battery life do you get [when browsing the web]? With respect to processor performance, would you feel comfortable running something like a video editing program or Photoshop on it [while plugged in]?

Sorry i didn't get to you earlier. The typing experience is what'd i'd consider touch typing. Very low travel like what most reviews have stated but if you've used ultrabooks before it's no different. I can type with good proficiency on this keyboard but if you're used to mainstream/business type laptops, u should go check out a demo unit in-store first. As for photoshop it's more than sufficient but keep in mind it's a 14" laptop and the screen is smaller so it's not as nice as working on a 15.6. The other awesome aspect about photoshopping is that the colour reproduction on this laptop is awesome; try to check one out in person. Compared to a dell 3540 i used previously(stolen), which in a nutshell is the same, but 15.6, matte screen and less portable.

The cpu fan would also kick in with photoshop right after u start using it, so expect some audible fan noise. With basic usage the fan stays on low, u'd think it wasn't even on.

The biggest obstacle right now is availability for this laptop IMO; price wise. The refresh with the gtx850m is coming out and it'd be more expensive while the 'current' model pricing is staying the same/high. The microsoft store had the 15.6 V7-582pg variant for $670US! Which is an insane price although i don't know if the screen quality is also as good as the V7-482pg.

EDIT: can't speak for the battery life since i'm using it 90% plugged in. I'll try on the weekend unplugged and see how it goes.

Yikes my laptop died last night! Was just watching a youtube video and it powered down all of a sudden. After that i was unable to boot the laptop without it powering down within 1 sec. Troubleshooted it and went through a bunch of things, most notably discharge the battery via the 'reset' button on the back. Same results. Luckily my local computer store is good about exchanging it so i'm my second one now. Cross my fingers.
