So, the Acer VN7 591G has the same panel as my Lenovo Y50. After much grief on the Lenovo support forums I have decided to give it a go to restore 60Hz. For those who do not know, the Y50 had 60Hz, but, after the latest BIOS or intel or nvidia or whatever updates we dropped to 48Hz, even at 1080P. We can get 60Hz via CRU. But, I was hoping for either the monitor driver or INF or the registry string for the display from a VN7. Since it should, in theory, be the correct INF/DRV/REG for the panel from an OEM source. I'd like to try that way.

So, if anyone could, post the registry string for your display. Also, check on the driver version for the display. Our is a generic pnp monitor type, and, the UHD resolution isn't listed in the INF file. It's obviously pulling the INF related material from another file.

    Thanks in advance!

Intel and nvidia use edid-override keys in registry to do that (CRU too, btw). The originals should be left intact; run MonInfo and use ' File -> Create INF', that will create the proper monitor driver (upload this, please). Now, you could use ' Device manager -> update driver etc.', but think you'll have a bsod then, unless you uninstall HD first. At least, that's how it works on my system (also Optimus). It didn't do that before, though ...

Perhaps what has changed is this (from a UEFI presentation by MS):
