Hello everyone,
I'm facing a weird problem with my hard disc.
It's on my notebook (ACER Travelmate 6292) and I have partitioned
it in two, C: for system+program files, D: for saving work. I have
formatted both partitions into NTFS. Then I restore data in the notebook's
D: saving partition from another external USB hard disc that I have.
The data in this one is backuped from another computer where it's being
worked in FAT32 but that external USB disc is now also formated in NTFS.
Then when I work and start cut and paste (in Windows Explorer) folders
or files from one place to another in the notebook's D: partition,
the new folders or files become inaccessible - it says "acces denied"
and it's even impossible to erase them (so I must reformat the D: partition
each time again). I mean, I can open and work with files and folders, but
only when it comes to cut and paste it makes them inaccessible!
This is an impossible situation and I'm really puzzled what could
the reason be? Could anyone give a hint?
Thanks in advance.

So this happens when cut/paste from usb to D: right? So it gives you Access Denied when attempting to delete the folders from your usb due to the cut/paste process? The reason could be that when you connect the usb drive, windows starts indexing the usb's file and folder which mean that when cut/pasteing, the folders are in use. I guess this could be one reason..
What windows do you have? -
Your USB drive is formatted NTFS correct? And it is primarily being used to store data from another computer correct?
MAke sure that the folder permissions on any partitions, folders and files on the USB drive are set for "everyone" and not specifically for the username from the other computer.
TO access permissions right click on the folders in the drive, select Properties and then the security tab. Also in "My Computer" right click on the USB drive, Properties, and the security tab.
If any of the permissions are set for any partiucular user, reconnect the drive to the computer that normally uses it, and from that one, change all file and partition permissions to "everyone". Then try it again from your laptop.
Very weird HD problem
