First i had to get XP drivers for all my Hardware from the acer euro site,
Belarc Advisor is a great program for identifying yr hardware
then from Vista deleted the E: DATA partition
and left this space UNALLOCATED otherwise XP setup will not have a place for the swap file
Next I had to slipstream SP2 into my XP cd to workaround the PCI.SYS error
Set the bios to boot from the CD first, insert XP and reboot
At this stage XP will copy setup files to the drive and ask you to reboot again
This time you are asked if you want to boot to Vista or XP setup
select the second one then setup will ask where you want to install
and show you 3 partitions PQSERVICE; C: ACER and the UNALLOCATED space
select to install to the UNALLOCATED space on the drive
Setup continued without a hitch and 22 minutes later i booted XP
Now i have Vista and XP in a dual boot configuration
to restore the boot funtionality in Vista just use your Vista DVD and
rebuild the MBR/Repair then you have the ability to select which OS you want
XP is a freakin animal my 5610
1Gig of RAM running XP is a beautiful thing ay
and i like my Laptop again LOL
