Hey everyone,
I recently reinstalled Windows 7 on my Acer laptop (Aspire 8730), and I've had some troubles getting everything working again. More specifically, the touch-sensitive volume control slider to the right of my keyboard is malfunctioning. The odd part is that all of the other multimedia buttons (Stop, Play, Fast Forward, Back, etc) work fine, as does the Mute button.

The volume control in question
I installed the Acer Launch Manager that was listed on the Acer Drivers/Downloads page, which didn't really fix the problem. With the Launcher installed a volume popup shows when I try to slide the volume up and down, but the volume level it displays does not correspond to the slider. The level jerks up and down randomly instead of sliding smoothly with the hardware.
I took a look through the forum briefly, but I didn't find anything related to this specific problem. Any sage advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated![]()
Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, Remington!
This is a bit of a puzzler; normally, Launch Manager is all you'd need to get the volume control working again. Maybe it's controlled by the touchpad or sound drivers; hopefully you burned your Drivers & Applications disc from eRecovery and can use the drivers from there to give it a spin. -
I have the same problem but with my Aspire 7738G. Since I downloaded the launch manager from their website my volume slider doesn't show the actual volume of my pc and it's less responsive. The mute button doesn't work well either: sometimes it shows muted while I still have sound.
Also the volume bar and the icons on my screen are different. It used to be gray and white, now it's green, and a lot of icons are replaced by green text.
I have a recovery disc, but do I have to reset everything or can I just install the program I need (in this case Launch Manager).
EDIT: I have searched on google, and found someone who had the same problem but managed to fix it: http://www.theacerguy.com/forum/topic/acer-7738g-windows-7-upgrade-issues-fixes
So I did what he said and it works! I just clicked on the link of the last post, downloaded the Launch Manager.rar and overwrote my Launch Manager files with the ones from the rar
I hope this works with the Acer Aspire 8730 too. -
Does anyone still have the rar file still from the post from theacerguy.com? the hosted .rar file has expired
