    Hello!

    I have bought a 4101Wlmi with a 64MB X700 Graphics Card and it is
    not what i expected.
    I can´t get more then 27.5fps in Doom3 1024*768 Medium Quality.
    In 3dmark 2001 i get a score of 11500 and in 3dmark 2003 about 3650!

I have tryed to resolve the trouble and i have found it, Ati Tray Tools systeminformation reports that the "memory interface" is only 64bit with GDDR3 memory.
I think i will return the laptop and buy a Acer with 128bits data path!
Can´t understand why Acer don´t inform the customer if the computer has 128 or 64bit interface.
    It´s like buying a 6800GT and get a remarked 6600, they fool
people with some sort of dissinformation.

Is it a X700 then it should have performance of a x700 not a x600 or less!

    I ran the everest home edition on my 4102 and this is the display adapter report;

Its reported as 128bit, so it might be that acer upgraded it on the 4102? I can't find the memory bus width in the ati systemtray but it says that it is using ddr1 memory.

I checked info about the Graphics in Everest Home and the Memorybus was
not 128bit like yours it was 64bit SDR :(
I will return the computer today, i bought it because it had a x700 and i hoped to play games with a not so choppy framerate!

I have returned the computer to the store and i got my money back :)
    I have order a Aspire 5021wlmi instead with a x700 128mb graphics card and
    hopefully a 128bits bus!
But what i heard the 5021 is very good gaming computer for the money.

lucky you. i found after few weeks too that my x700 mobile has 64bit memory bus... it was too late to complain about that. aspire 1691wlmi.

Your memory bandwidth is alot higher than mine, why is that? Could it be the ddr1 instead of ddr3 video memory that is on my X700?

Wow, it is, I didnt notice that before. So is my fill rate, yours is 840MTexels/s and mine is 2864, that is a Huge difference. However, my GPU clock is 358MHz. Yours says " GPU Clock 105 MHz (original: 358 MHz)". Could that have anything to do with it?
Download PowerStrip and see what it says, see how fast your memory and core clocks are. Post the speeds and then we'll see what else we can do. BTW, mine are, as default, 358 core: 331 memory.

Yes, I am not sure if mine is using DDR or GDDR3, anyone know how to find this out?

I think i know the reason for the difference. I was running everest on battery supply.

    Heres the everest report when i ran in with power plugged in;

    [ PCI Express x16: ATI Mobility Radeon X700 (M26-X) ]

    Graphics Processor Properties:
Video Adapter ATI Mobility Radeon X700 (M26-X)
    GPU Code Name M26-X

Real Clock 344 MHz (original: 345 MHz)
    Effective Clock 344 MHz
    Bandwidth 5504 MB/s

Also, you can see the ram type description when you right click on ati systemtool on the system tray and select display setting and click advance to go into the ati tabbed options control. From there go to the option tab and click on the details button. Mine says ddr1 as ram type.

I installed powerstrip and it reports my gpu as Memory:344mhz-Engine:358mhz. I was not game enough to try the configuration setting it provides though. Whats the setting that can be enhanced without causing any risk of damage?

I have an Aspire 3023WLMI that came with an X700 128MB instead of the X600 128MB advertised on the site I bought it from here in the UK.

The strange part is the report I get from Everest though. It identifies the card as a PCI Express x16: ATI FireGL V5000 (RV410GL) with GDDR3 memory and 10.3 GB/s bandwidth.

    Very interesting!

Download powerstrip and see what that tells you. If it says the same thing, you are stuck with that card.

Powerstrip shows the card as an X700. Probably a bug in Everest (not so lucky to get a fireGL for free :( )
Well, I am not complaining, an X700 instead of a X600 is more that enough :)

Oh well. I'd take an X700 over a X600 any day of the week. Besides, the V5000 wouldnt be much good for games.

Just type "everest home edition" in google and, when you go to their website, then download the home edition and run it, it gives you all the info :)
