When I type and rest my hands on either side of the touchpad on my Acer Aspire 1692, my mouse goes crazy and shoots the cursor around the screen. I end up typing all over the place and sometimes closing applications, or opening new documents cuz it seems like I'm always hitting the mouse or creating new key combinations even though I'm not. It reacts when I have my wrists on the laptop and is getting really annoying. As anyone experienced this and is there any solution to it? Thanks for any help.

turn off the touchpad when you type. your hands are hitting the touchpad and causing these problems.

Fn + F# on your keyboard will fix it... or use an external keyboard.
