Hi all,
I wanted to upgrade my WLAN at home to a 802.11g with SRX (MIMO). I would like to upgrade my Acer Aspire 2002 WCli current Intel Pro 2100b card to something newer. Which card should I look for? Are all g cards also backward compatible with b? Will any g card work with SRX/MIMO?
Thanks,
Wm

I have the NetGear router with MIMO. It works fine on my ThinkPad T42 with Intel 2200bg card as well as an old D-Link b card I use when fixing other laptops. According to NetGear you need the MIMO PCMCIA card to get the extended range benefits. I haven't tested mine outside the house.

Will this card work in my Acer Aspire 2002?

Does you notebook have a wireless card? If it does, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

yes, a 2200b/g card will fit and work fine.

Thanks,
I've heard a 2200b/g card will work, but I was wondering about the 2915a/b/g card - do I have the right antenna connections? - does the "a" standard require a 3rd antenna?
Thanks. -

Not that I know of. you should be fine with that too.

I upgraded my Aspire 2000's mini-pci card from a Intel b to b/g without any problems. I'm not sure about the Intel b/g/a card though. I would think that since it uses a different frequency that it wouldn't work but that's just my guess.
As far as upgrading the mini-pci card to work with vendors implementation of a non-standard protocal like SRX/MIMO I believe it will only work in g. You need the protocal on both sides (router and wifi card) in order to get the speed/coverage gains.
What MiniPCI WLAN card can I upgrade on Acer Aspire 2000 series?
