    Hi all,

I cant figure out the reason my bluetooth is not working? Am i missing a driver? is there a special way to enable bluetooth before you install the driver?

do you install all the drivers from the acer cd... or do acer provide you with a list of more then just the drivers that apply to you.

please refer to this thread to see the whole story http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=81869

that thread seems to just be shifting to the back... does that mean that no one has any answers to my problem?

What Acer machine do you have? A lot of Acer's have the Bluetooth button on the front, but not bluetooth inside the machine. Could be that you do not have Bluetooth on your machine.

Does your wireless internet light work as well?
I believe one of the Acer Empowerment Applications is needed for the Bluetooth and wireless lights to come on. (If I was to guess I would assume an Acer empoyerment launch manager, not sure) Its too bad some of those Acer Utilities are such resource hogs.
Also check your computers device manager and see if you see any devices that are in the "other section". Sometimes you may need to let windows reinstall from there. Good luck.

Just because your "light" comes on does NOT mean that you have bluetooth intergrated into your laptop! Look @ this thread to understand better - http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=80517

Some models don't have bluetooth but use the same chassis so the light lights up. This has led to some confusion on the end users part in the past.

It looks like he definitely has bluetooth:

Welcome to bluetooh hell. It's the crappiest technology to hit the mainstream in decades.

A standard load of Windows should find the bluetooth and work without any Acer utilities. I have a 5672wlmi and I did a fresh install of Windows XP Professional and bluetooth was recognized, lit button, and worked without anything else. I did also install the Windcomm drivers later and still working.

I have removed all Acer utilities over the past week and bluetooth is still fine and lit up so I don't think that's accurate that you need to have Acer stuff running for the blue light.

Could it be that Acer's version of XP Home has something removed for bluetooth?

That's all I can offer at this point... My bluetooth is rock solid now, but I went through a lot of trouble on this 3rd full reload (HDD failure) to get it to work right.

    I definitely have bluetooth.

Yes the wireless light works and i can connect the wireless to my internet.

When i look in the device manager there is nothing under "other section". The bluetooth comes up in the device manager and when i expand the window it has "Bluetooth bus enumerator" (i think thats what it said). Says device is working properly. But then when i right click on the bluetooth icon in task bar it says "no device attached" (wording might be incorrect - not behind my notebook right now). This doesnt happen when i recover from the recovery cd... only happens when i do my own install.

also note that i am using win XP Home. This is my own retail version that i had with my other desktop.

I installed the intel wireless driver but not the IntelSet application driver? could that be anything to do with it?

    This is really bugging me!

It says to enable the bluetooth device before installing the driver, but how do you do that when it is integrated on the board.

Also, after i do an erecovery it doesnt show the FSB speed in the system properties. My FSB is 667Mhz. But when i do my own install of XP etc. then in the system properties it says 997Mhz... whats up with that. Could there be something up with the BIOS?
