Does anyone know the pros and cons for the Acer Aspire 6920G, because I am trying to really make sure this laptop is going to be worth every single penny, and I want it to see what I can do if it lacks in one certain area.

I would be using this for gaming and making some songs on Ableton Live

Can anyone help??

Settle down, some people need time to respond to posts.
Pros:
-Great GPU for the price - the 8600M GT/9500M GS really was a sweet spot for the mid-market.
-One of the best speaker sets I've heard on a laptop.
-Can output 5.1 sound using the headphone, microphone, and line-in ports. THAT is cool.
-Easily upgradeable; most of the components are under one panel.
-Actual battery life if you can get the 8-cell model; I get about 3-3.5 hours on Power Saver.
-CineDash is awesome.
-Quite nice quality LCD (careful though, it IS glossy)
Cons:
-Tendency to overheat; there's a mesh screen in front of the intake fan that likes to collect dust, and needs regular cleaning.
-CPU's just a smidgen on the anemic side; try to get an upgrade to a T8300 or T9300 to boost the front side bus.
-Keyboard takes a little getting used to, occasionally misses keystrokes.
I'd say go for it, but I'm biased. -
I would like to counter the three cons
While it runs slightly on the warm side, it runs nowhere near as hot as my friend's Dell XPS M1530. Also, most people don't require a powerful CPU for day-to-day tasks or gaming (GPU limited). The keyboard is pretty good IMO, though I tend to wear down all my keyboards quickly. My 'L' and 'Alt' keys have small chips on them. -
Errr, why not the Acer 6930? Or the eventual 6940? (Possibly 4650, backlit keyboard).

Money? 6920Gs can be had for quite a bit less than comparable 6930/6935s.
As for the overheating, it doesn't get hot too the touch, but the thermal trip on the CPU is ridiculously low, which can halve performance when you most need it.
Undervolting helps.
Oh, and plenty of airflow to the fan. I've got my system back up on the SD card cases to improve airflow. -
good laptop, i would also recommend, but i am also biased. day to day use its great, i like the big screen (what resolution is it?) and not too worried about size. it will just about fit in most normal cases. also depends what gaming you are talking about. i overclocked to play farcry 2, but ive upgraded my gpu to get half decent gameplay on crysis. if i was choosing again i would try for 9800GT, but...
its always the same, you find what you want for $500, but 'for only another', then you end spending $800whatever you buy will be out of date tomorrow, but certainly that laptop will do all you want.

The regular WXGA's screen rez is 1366x768. Some models do have a 1920x1080 screen, though.

My budget is $800 CAD and I wanna play the games CS:S + Garry's Mod, and Oblivion with some big mods

I have this notebook and I don't recommend it because of the following reasons :
a) The CineDash is not always useful and it only works perfect with Windows Vista
b) The keyboard needs time to get used with it and because the CineDash is present in the case you have less keys/space to operate with your fingers.
c) The price is too high, in my opinion, I have bought Acer Aspire 6920G with 1400$, full options, and I still regret it because I don't seem to use many of it's features, like Cinedash, HD monitor etc.
d) I've had problems with my Atheros LAN card( got BSOD every time when I connected to the Internet, because of VISTA, this issue was solved changing the OS), my Hard drive had problems with SATA controller, freezing Vista, going to IDE mode solved the problem.
e) The lights/brightness of the monitor is not too good from all the angles, I have to switch the monitor every time I change my position to see clearly.
The specs for my Aspire 6920G-934G32Bn are :
Intel Core2 Duo T9300 2.50GHz,
16.9 FULL HD WUXGA
CineCrystal 8ms,
NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS 512M-GD2,
4GB(2x 2GB DDRII667),
320GB 5.4K SATA,
Blu-Ray (BD Reader, DVD<(>&<)>CDWriter),
6-in-1 card reader (SD/MMC/MMCplus/MS PRO/xD),
802.11 Draft n, a/b/g ,
Bluetooth 2.0,
Battery 6 cells,
Crystal Eye Webcam DV,
FingerPrintReader,
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit
With this specs you can play many of the new games, but if your budget is only $800 I don't suggest you buy a laptop with Cinedash or a HD screen(the resolution is too small).
I can only say that with $800 you could get a good notebook, not especially Acer but other brand, with good GPU and CPU, the games you mentioned require though some resources, like Oblivion, and you should consult some official requirements on their website.
You just have to search in the appropriate place and always think twice before you buy not like I did.
